Apple says it has achieved pay equity in US

Tech giant Apple released its annual workforce diversity report on Wednesday, revealing that the company has achieved pay equity in the US; with all the company’s employees in the country now getting ‘equal pay for equal work.’

According to the information shared by Apple in its latest diversity report, the pay earned by female employees and those representing minority communities at Apple is now on par with the pay earned by the white, male employees in similar roles.

Apple has claimed in the report that "Women earn one dollar for every dollar male employees earn. And underrepresented minorities earn one dollar for every dollar white employees earn."

Apple said that it has achieved pay equity in the US by analyzing salaries, bonuses, and annual stock grants, to ensure that the amount of money earned by its employees in similar roles, with equitable performance, is the same.

The disclosure by Apple implies that the company has remedied pay gaps between male and female employees, as well as white and non-white employees, in the US. Apple is not the first tech company to have achieved ‘equal pay for equal work’ for its employees. Earlier, in April this year, Facebook and Microsoft had claimed that they have no gender pay gap.
