United Airlines to go ahead with 18-hour Flight
United Airlines has confirmed its plan to launch 18-hour flight from Los Angeles to Singapore. United Airlines still needs approval from regulators for its longest flight till date. The Los Angeles – Singapore flight will be 8,700-mile nonstop flight, setting a new record for airline industry. If the airline receives approval from regulators, the flight could be launched in November.
The company informed that westbound flights will take nearly 18 hours while eastbound flights will require little more than 15 hours. Currently, Australian airline Qantas operates the longest nonstop flight from Sydney to Dallas covering a distance of 8,576 miles.
United Airlines Senior Vice President of U.S. Sales Dave Hilfman said, "Whether our customers are on leisure or business travel, United is making travel to Singapore easier and even more convenient than ever before and customers arriving to Los Angeles will have multiple opportunities to connect to hundreds of United destinations in the U.S., Canada and Latin America."
United Airlines Vice President of International Planning Patrick Quayle said, "It's the longest route from the U.S. to anywhere in the world. It's definitely prestigious."
