Ewald Nowotny, European Central Bank Governing Council member, said the bank may cut its economic forecast next week. The bank will present its updated estimate next Thursday.

Nowotny said, "It's no secret that we are seeing somewhat of a downturn in the economy. Germany is no longer able to be a locomotive for growth".

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi Flags ECB’s Readiness to Act

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi flagged the central bank's readiness to act, as recent signs of stabilization in the Euro zone have proved that its interest rates are a more effective tool again.

He said this during a farewell conference for Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer in Jerusalem. Draghi said that ECB could take numerous measures when needed.
